Chronic Pain Treatment
Our chronic pain services are grounded in evidence-based approaches and delivered within a multidisciplinary, integrated care clinic. We understand that pain is not just physical—it is also influenced by emotional, cognitive, and social factors.

Our Occupational Therapists provide personalized care using a range of evidence-based strategies, either independently or in collaboration with other members of the care team, including:

  • Pain Neuroscience Education (PNE) to shift how pain is understood and experienced
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support values-based living despite pain
  • Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET) to address unresolved emotional contributors
  • Mindful Self-Compassion practices to reduce suffering and build resilience
  • Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) to retrain the brain’s response to pain signals

Treatment may also include pacing techniques, activity modification, relaxation strategies, and support with emotional regulation and goal setting.

Our goal is to help you regain function, reduce fear, and feel more empowered in your day-to-day life.

Mental Performance

Dr. Marcoux strongly believes in the importance of assessing our mental operations as it directly impacts how we think, feel, and act. It's not just about being "smart" or having high cognitive abilities; it's about how effectively we can focus, make decisions, manage stress, stay motivated, and adapt to challenges. Ultimately, mental performance isn't just about individual achievement—it's also about being able to contribute to your community, team, and relationships in a meaningful way. When we prioritize and nurture our mental performance, we can handle life’s challenges more effectively, improve our relationships, and enhance our overall sense of fulfillment.

Sleep

As sleep is one of the most powerful regulators of psychological health, Dr. Marcoux pursued additional training in sleep interventions and has particular interest in helping improve individuals' quality of sleep, restoration and wakefulness. Dr. Marcoux is able to offer comprehensive sleep assessments and tailored sleep interventions to those who suffer from sleep disruption/fatigue related to their medical condition(s).
