Injured Worker Program

When an injury happens, what happens next matters

When your employee sustains a workplace injury, every delay in the process of getting treatment is a loss of productivity for the employer and the employee. Not treating this injury immediately and effectively can make insurance premiums go up. There is even a danger that an injury can become chronic.

For a small monthly subscription fee, we ensure your employees are assessed, treated and return to work as quickly and as safely as possible.

When an injury in the workplace occurs, the employee is connected to Pure Lifestyle and we immediately step into action.

We act as a single point of contact between the worker, the employer, the insurance provider, and all members of the healthcare team

We ensure the employee is assessed and treated within 24 hours of being contacted, minimizing unnecessary disability and time loss and making your life easier.

Pre-Employment/Post-Offer Medical Assessments

Hiring the right person is only half the equation

Confirming they can safely perform the physical and cognitive demands of the role —before they start— protects your organization from the consequences of placing the wrong person in the wrong job.

A workplace injury in the first weeks of employment is one of the most preventable
and costly outcomes in occupational health.

Pre-Employment and Post-Offer Medical Assessments exist for exactly this reason: to establish a clear baseline of a worker’s functional capabilities before they enter your environment.

At PURE, these assessments are structured
across three delivery tiers:

  • Nurse-led
  • Clinical assistant-led
  • Physician-led

Tiering allows your organization to match the depth and cost of each assessment to the actual risk profile of the role. Where physician oversight is required, sign-off is available across all tiers.

The result is a cost structure that scales with your workforce, not against it.

Expedited Assessment Options

PURE’s expedited assessment options ensures that conditional offers move to confirmed start dates without delay — with physician-completed assessments and reporting turned around to meet your operational deadlines, not ours.

Surveillance / Assessment Programs

The earlier you know, the more you can prevent.

The workers most exposed to occupational health hazards — dust, noise, chemicals, heavy metals — are often the last to know the damage is accumulating.

Manitoba’s legislated surveillance programs exist to catch that damage early, before it becomes permanent. PURE delivers those programs with the clinical rigour and operational flexibility your workforce and your obligations demand.

Programs

Lung Surveillance (Fibrogenic Dust / Silica Screening)

For workers exposed to silica, asbestos, or other fibrogenic dusts — early detection of pulmonary damage before irreversible scarring occurs.

Hearing Conservation Program

For workers in high-noise environments — baseline and periodic audiometric testing to detect hearing loss early and meet legislated noise exposure obligations.

Heavy Metal Surveillance

For workers exposed to lead, mercury, arsenic, or other heavy metals — biological monitoring to detect toxic accumulation before clinical symptoms emerge.

Drug and Alcohol Surveillance / Testing

For safety-sensitive industries — random, post-incident, and pre-employment testing programs designed to meet regulatory standards and protect your workforce.

Vaccination Programs

For workplaces with biological exposure risk — managed immunization programs tailored to your industry’s specific hazard profile.

New for 2026 – Psychological Safety Surveillance

Bill 29 formally extends Manitoba’s workplace safety obligations to include psychological health and safety. Employers are now required to address psychosocial hazards with the same rigour historically applied to physical hazards – creating a new class of surveillance and monitoring obligations that many organizations are only beginning to understand.

Mobile Surveillance Capability

Not every workforce can come to us — so we come to them. Pure brings fully equipped, clinician-led testing directly to your worksite, eliminating travel time, reducing downtime, and ensuring your most remote workers receive the same standard of care as those in the city.

Insurer Services

When care is coordinated, files move forward.

For case managers and adjusters, coordinating care across multiple independent providers is one of the most time-consuming and risk-prone aspects of file management. PURE eliminates that problem. By housing physician care, allied health, psychiatry, and rehabilitation under one roof — with a single point of clinical contact — we give your files the coordinated infrastructure they need to move forward without the friction.

Independent Medical Examination

We provide independent medical, psychiatric, functional, and allied health examinations.

These evaluations are performed by experienced evaluators not involved in the care of the examinee (non-treating medical exams) for clarifying clinical, case, and or, claims related Medicolegal issues including Scientific Causation analysis, work capacity, return to work, the maximum degree of medical improvement, impairment and disability assessments, etc.  Evaluations are often used to provide a more objective understanding of the residual impact of an injury or illness.

Behavioural Activation Programs

Physical activity has consistently been shown to be associated with improved physical health, life satisfaction, cognitive functioning, and psychological well-being. Studies have shown that as an adjunctive treatment, exercise can be an effective and cost-efficient alternative or adjunct treatment for a variety of depression and anxiety related disorders.

Our physiotherapists and certified exercise physiologists work directly with insurance companies to help employees who are dealing with mental health struggles optimize function, mood and independence, with the goal of helping them re-enter the workplace.

Ergonomic Assessments
An ergonomic assessment provided by an occupational therapist involves evaluating the physical workspace, tools, and tasks of an individual to identify potential risk factors for injury or discomfort. The goal of the assessment is to optimize the individual’s work environment to promote health, safety, and productivity.

Heather Haus

Program Manager for Return-to-Work Services, Kinesiologist
Heather graduated in 2012 from the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology where she studied in the Athletic Therapy stream. Heather continued with her studies and completed the Clinical Exercise Physiology (CEP) certification through the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology (CSEP) in 2013. In addition to this Heather has been a member of the Manitoba Fitness Council since 2010 and is an active member of the Canadian Kinesiology Association. Heather is always eager to take advantage of professional development opportunities wherever possible, there is always so much to learn in the field of Kinesiology. Heathers passion for the industry came to light when she was working through her own injuries. As a marathon runner, Heather struggled with many chronic injuries mostly due to a lack of understanding of the importance of a balanced training program which also includes rest. Heather engaged with Athletic Therapy professionals to work through her injuries at which time a resistance training program was introduced. She loved the added benefits of resistance training and she wanted to learn more. Heather traded in her calculator at her job in the corporate world for some textbooks and began her university education. Throughout her studies Heather continued to run marathons and started to dabble in the triathlon world. A true endurance athlete, Heather completed two full Ironman competitions in Penticton and in Wisconsin. For over a decade Heather has worked with a broad range of clients in clinical, gym, in home, and outdoor settings. Heather helps with sport specific goals, general fitness goals, pre or post injury, or to help prevent or control chronic disease. Heather works hard to give her clients a pleasant, professional, and effective experience. She can’t wait to see you in the gym!
